Arenal Volcano and Hotsprings - the most popular tour

10:00A.M.   One of the most popular tours, visit the volcano and relax in the hotsprings of Tobaco Resort & Spa for an unforgettable experience.  En route, we pass the town of Zarcero , famous for its food, Ciudad Quesada, capital of San Carlos Region, cattle ranches and agricultural fields.  Later, we arrive at La Fortuna, the closest town to the volcano where on a clear day you have the opportunity to observe the impressive peak.  The Volcano imposes admiration with ash explosions and washes, and by night the impression of artificial gems.  Just in front of the volcano are the hotsprings, so close you feel the rumblings of the volcano, of Tobaco Resort & Spa, where we will enjoy dinner.  Bring comfortable shoes, light jacket bathing suit and towel.  Lunch and dinner included.

Sarapiqui Canopy & Rain Forest - fabulous learning adventure   $79USD

7:20 A.M.  Our naturalist guide will pick us up from your hotel to start your journey of 1.5 hours to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, passing through one of the most exuberant parks in Costa Rica.  Enjoy the scenic views as we travel.  Upon arrival, you will board a boat to discover the wealth of Cost Rican nature along the river.  The boat ride lasts for 2 hours, while you experience wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, sloths, crocodiles and many other species.  Then you arrive at a private reserve, where you have the option of getting to the canopy head by horseback or on foot.  Then, we get an explanation of the basic principals to make this experience a safe and enjoyable one.  This adventure allows you to roam around the treetops from one platform to another, using a special system of steel cables and professional climbing gear.  No experience is necessary!  Each trip between the 15 platforms and the suspension bridge is an experience unique unto itself!  After an adrenaline packed 2 hours, enjoy lunch in the private reserve.  Bring comfortable shoes, trousers and light clothing.

Departs San Jose 7:30 A.M.  Imagine following the journey of a coffee bean, from the plant to a cup of gourmet coffee.  At Café Britt, you will do exactly that!  This professional acting troupe, dressed in traditional garb, will escort you through an interactive, comprehensive history of coffee.  On their finca, as the plantation is called in Spanish, your day starts on 6 acres of coffee fields, tropical gardens and coffee processing facilities.  We’ll teach you all about coffee cultivation, not just by giving you the facts but you can pick a few beans to taste their sweetness, or take some home to try and grow a plant yourself!  From the fields, we take you to one of our roasting and packaging facilities, where you will soak in the aroma of roasting coffee and learn all about the process that turns a red coffee cherry into a delicious cup of java.  Then, in our theater, sit back and watch the multi-media play and presentation of coffee’s place in world history.  Learn to see how deeply coffee culture is woven into the history and culture of Costa Rica- and be prepared to have a few laughs while you are at it! 

River Adventure and Poas Volcano combination   $81USD

7:00 A.M.   This complete tour gives you the opportunity to enjoy some of the highlights of Costa Rica in only one day, first by going to the Poas volcano, which has one of the most famous craters in the world.  The journey continues, while the tour guide gives an overview of what is to come.  We will stop at La Paz Waterfalls Gardens, where you enjoy breakfast, visit the butterfly observatory and enjoy the hiking trails.  Once we arrive at Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, we board a boat to experience the abundant nature along the banks.  The boat ride lasts for 2 hours, time enough to witness the magnificent rain forest and its inhabitants, such as toucans, monkeys, sloths, crocodiles and more.

6:30 A.M.  An expedition in the dense jungle of one of the most beautiful and scenic regions of Costa Rica .  Sail the exotic channels of Totuguero National Park , made famous by the solitary beaches where the gigantic green sea turtles lay their eggs.  (July-Sept.)  Tortuguero is the most important breeding site in the western hemisphere for these turtles.  A navigable network of channels and lagoons cross the National Park, which will allow you to be in direct contact with the great diversity of flora and fauna.  We will leave through the Braulio National Park , where we will pass mountains covered in dense forests as well as numerous rivers and cascades until we arrive at the Caribbean of Costa Rica where we will cross banana plantations until we sail to Tortuguero National Park.  Bring bathing suits, light clothes and comfortable shoes.  Includes breakfast and lunch.

Rain Forest Aerial Tram   $80USD

6:00 A.M.  50 minutes on the highway from San Jose, the Aerial Tram offers an impressive park of eco-tourism and intrigue unique in the world.  In the 90 minutes traveled between the grove forest and the canopy, the visitor discovers plants and animals that are usually hidden, a world little known but with an incredible amount of beauty and extraordinary biological diversity.  The Aerial Tram is a modified ski lift which covers a distance of 2.6 kilometers through the Costa Rican rain forest.  The main idea of the course is to show visitors all the different levels of the rain forest, specifically the hardest level to access, the canopy. The course is very secure and very quiet.  This allows the visitors to listen to the many different sounds of the rain forest.

White Water Rafting   $80USD

6:00A.M.  On this excursion, enjoy your choice of one of the following popular rivers for this sport:  Pacuare, Reventazon or Sarapiqui.  The Pacuare River is rated one of the worlds top 5 most important for its rapids and landscapes.  Located in the Caribbean of Costa Rica, this river is born from Mount Talamalca, home of the native Indians of Cabecar, with an immense variety of flora and fauna. San Jose City Explorer   $37USD
Departs San Jose 12:00   The tour begins with a visit to La Sabana Metropolitan Park.  Heading to the residential area of Rohmoser, we continue to Plaza Esmerelda.  Here we stop for a delicious lunch.  Then you will witness the process of manufacturing and exhibition of Costa Rican handicrafts made of leather, wood and ceramic.  We continue traveling on the Paseo Colo to the National Theater, an architectural masterpiece which we shall explore with a guide. 

Then, over the Plaza de la Cultura to visit the Gold Museum, continuing through the Central Avenue Boulevard to the Plaza de la Democracia, and a visit to the National Museum.  The walk continues on the Boulevard Circuito Judicial and the Supreme Court of Justice.  Here we board the bus to continue our city seeing, taking a close look at the Casa Amallia, The National park, Tha National Library, The Electoral Supreme Court and the old neighborhood of San Jose .  Before we head back to the hotel, we will stop for a coffee at El Pueblo, a place where there are over 60 different bars & restaurants, 4 discos and the concentration of San Jose’s nightlife.  Here you may stay or continue to the hotel.  If you stay, you receive discounts at the galleries, bars and restaurants, and will be picked up 2 hours later.
