This is an incredible exploration of the life and times of Shakespeare,
showcased with the highlights of England. Students will leave Britain with an
enthusiastic appreciation of Olde England and the literary genius of the
greatest writer. Enjoy!
Day 1
Flight to London. Enjoy our overnight service from your gateway to the Capital
of England.
Day 2
Arrive in London. London is enjoying a renewed prosperity and popularity. It is
deservedly a world class learning destination. Unpack and get ready for the
educational experience of a lifetime.
Day 3
Our humorous and knowledgeable tour guide will introduce us to National Gallery,
and very nearby, Trafalgar Square. Walk the Strand and see the changing of the
Royal Guard at Buckingham Palace (when available), Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben,
and the Houses of Parliament. A fascinating "Jack the Ripper Tour"
will be arranged for the evening in "Old London Town". Optionally we
can arrange a "Ghosts of London" .
Day 4-5
Enjoy breakfast "English Style" and depart for Shakespeare country. In
Stratford-Upon-Avon we visit the birthplace of Shakespeare, Anne Hathaway’s
Cottage, New Place and its Elizabethan Knot Garden (original foundations), Nash
House (Elizabethan furnishings), Hall’s Croft, Holy Trinity Church (site of
his burial), Mary Arden’s House, Shakespeare Library and Records Office
(original manuscripts) & his old school.. Included is a performance of a
play at the Memorial Theater, home of the Royal Shakespeare company.
We can also arrange Drama Workshops, Theater Backstage Tours, Talks by Actors,
Talks by Shakespeare Academics and private performances. Your Choice.
Day 6 Explore
Windsor Castle, the world's largest inhabited Castle. Home of the Monarchs for
900 years it has Gargoyles and Pinnacles, and many ancient and inspiring
paintings. Be sure to climb down into the torture dungeon and read the
inscriptions on the wall by former residents! Walk in the footsteps of William
the Conqueror who inhabited the castle in 1066. Continue south for our
overnight.
Day 7 Stop
into the city of Bath., the ancient Roman town, to view its Roman Baths and
Pumphouse. Tour one of England's most beautiful towns and learn why almost the
entire town is built of the same materials. Continue on to intriguing
Stonehenge. Who placed massive stones here 35 centuries ago? Can you solve the
mystery? Our busy day continues as we arrive in London. Wow!
Day 8 We
have a final day in London to explore on our own. Can we recommend the British
Museum.
Day 9
Enjoy the flight home. Dream about the lucky day you
return to London.
This highly educational tour
can be extended to include: sites associated with the play Macbeth such as
Glamis Castle in Scotland, sites associated with Richard III including
Lancaster-York-Bosworth Field, Castle Howard in Yorkshire where BBC adaptation
of Twelfth Night was filmed, Harry Potter film locations or Ruthin Castle in
Wales.
