Ottawa - Montreal – Quebec City – Cote de Beaupre – Montmorency – Sugar Shack Day 1 Depart to the Capital city of Canada. Arrive at Ottawa airport. Group is met by our tour escort and accompanied to the hotel. Enjoy a short walking tour and Oregano’s restaurant, if available.Day 2 Enjoy a morning tour of Ottawa before stepping into the Parliament Buildings. A 45 minute guided tour will included the Senate and the House of Commons, the Library of Parliament, the Hall of Honor and the Memorial Chamber. Transfer to the Museum of Civilization (has 700,000 visitors annually). Follow this with visit to the Museum of Science and Technology for a very full day of learning and exploring. We can visit the Royal Canadian Mint, time permitting. Enjoy dinner at the "Marble Works" Restaurant. Built in 1866 it is one of Ottawa’s historic centerpieces.
Day 4 Enjoy another full American breakfast and bid adieu to Montreal as we motor to Quebec City. Cartier and Champlain explored this region centuries ago and now it is our turn. Visit Place Royal, the Citadelle, and the Plains of Abraham where the fate of the New World was decided with muskets and lives. Learn how a lightly defended lookout turned the mighty French Fortress into a British possession. Continue on to Chateau Frontenac. We have again chosen a superior restaurant with incredible views for the group. The two-floor restaurant Monte Carlo is terrific.Day 5 The Museum De Quebec is our first stop of the day. The South East end has the King’s Bastion, the Cap Diamant Redoubt, which dates from 1693, and the old military prison. The Powder Magazine, built in 1750 is located in the shadow of the Prince of Wales Bastion, in the South West corner of the fortress. Time and weather permitting, we can visit other important buildings within the fortress and see the changing of the guard. Next, our air-conditioned motor coach will deliver us to the "Quebec Experience". " A multimedia three dimensional, sound and light show will take the group on a magical journey of Quebec’s history from the first explorers to today. 24 videos and 3D slide projectors, 8 screens, 50,000 watt light equipment, water effects and animated effects bring history to life". Enjoy dinner at Restaurant Du Spaghetti this evening (it’s not French cuisine but it certainly is good).Day 6 Find yourselves immersed in the artistic world of Albert Gilles. Praised by Pope Pius XII, the great Walt Disney and colorful Mae West, the master craftsman has been interpreting his copper works for visitors for 75 years. The next stop is the sanctuary de Sainte Anne de Beaupre. Popular belief says that Sainte Anne saved many shipwreck victims and today a chapel is dedicated to the memory of this great lady. More than one and a half million pilgrims a year will make their way to the Basilica on the Cote de Beaupre. Feel the intrigue and mystery of ancient customs at Musee Atelier Pare. Famous Quebec wood sculptors have works for our group to admire while modern sculptors carry on the tradition. A very picturesque road leads to "Marie’s Place". Along the Beaupre Coast you’ll see a 150-year-old oven and a stone dwelling dating back to 1652. You can treat yourself to delicious fresh bread, maple sugar bread slices, and maple products, at Chez Marie’s. A fantastic natural sight awaits everyone. The roar of Montmorency Falls, and the vistas of the St. Lawrence River and Iles D’Orleans, are enough to take your breath away. Don’t stop breathing, as you’ll miss the shopping and indoor park at the Galeries de la Capitale. There is time for shopping and amusement here. Dinner this evening is a Quebec tradition supplied by the Sugar Shack, Sucrerie Verret. Dinner serves traditional fare including game, served by top quality staff in period costumes. Folk and contemporary music as well as the famous "Sugaring Off" demonstration will be enjoyed by all.Day 7 Depart for the airport for the flight home. Bid AdieuTour options include a hockey game in Montreal at the Molson Center, or the Festin du Governeur, which is an entertaining and rewarding experience for all. A richly authentic and INTERACTIVE dinner, it recreates the lively atmosphere of 17th century New France. A lively troupe of professional actors will entertain with comedy and song. Additional nights on the tour can be arranged for a minimal surcharge.
