Artistic Paris In-Depth Study tour of Artistic Paris Visit the Major Museums, Galleries and Hangouts of the Great Impressionists Paris, and especially Montmartre, were the center of artistic culture for a half a century. It is a magnificent place from which to study Artists, their lifestyles and their many gifts to us, that are today considered absolutely priceless! Come see! Day 1 Flight to Paris, France. Day 2 Paris. Arrival in Paris and escort to hotel. Relax and settle into your new and exciting environment. Day 3 Paris. Tour the highlights of Paris including the Place de L'Opera, Tuleries Gardens, Les Invalides and the Church of St. Louis where Napoleon is buried in a massive deep red Sarcophagus. Not too far from here is the Luxembourg Gardens. See the Place de la Concorde where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were beheaded. Day 4 Louvre. Today we visit the world renowned museum with the ever-smiling Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory and the Egyptian Room. Called the New Louvre because of the renovations and stunning new entrance the museum received in 1993 it is well worth a visit. See Oriental, Greek, and Roman Antiquities. One remarkable piece is Hammurabi’s Code from ancient Babylon. Paintings by Raphael, Titian, Da Vinci, and Veronese all compete for your attention. Remarkable! Day 5 Free time for shopping and strolling the tree lined boulevards. In the afternoon, a visit to Rodin's Museum is a must. Rodin’s sculptures were considered so real and life-like that he could only have created them by using real bodies to form moulds and then casting his creations. See his most famous work, The Thinker. Day 6 Le Musee D'Orsay is another world-class museum to visit, featuring art from Classical, Romantic, Realist, Barbizon and Post-Impressionist eras. Later we view the city on the Seine, from the Eiffel Tower. Day 7 See the National Museum. A visit here will accentuate the "Modern Masters" including Salvador Dali, Matisse, Picasso, and Marc Chagall. Can we suggest a visit in the afternoon to the Picasso Museum. Day 8 In Eastern Paris very near the Metro Pere Lachaise is the Cemetery Pere Lachaise and the gravesights of Jim Morrison (Cher has bid to purchase this sight, and one day occupy it, when the body is repatriated the United States), Chopin, Rossini, Oscar Wilde etc. The tiny houses in this city of the dead are actually small chapels, often in timeless disrepair. Travel by Metro to the magnificent Montmartre. Climb the steps of the Basilica du Sacre Coeur, and inhale breathtaking views of the city. The Basilica huddles winding streets in her lap and affords some of the best views of Paris. Day 9 Paris-Versailles. Today we venture out to the one of the top tourist attractions of Europe, the Palace of Versailles. RER line C deliver us near to this opulent set of buildings. Louis the XIV hated Paris and was jealous of the luxury castle of the Vaux-le-Vicomte so he commissioned this palace to the west of Paris. It housed over a thousand members of his court. Day 10 Au Revoir Paris--Hello Home. Depart to the airport for the flight home.
