Day 1 Begin our incredible journey. We arrange the overnight flight to Amsterdam, Holland. Day 2 Our group is met at the airport and escorted to our cruise ship. Time permitting we stroll Amsterdam including Dam Square, Madame Tussauds Wax museum and the famous canals of Amsterdam. Day 3 Up anchor and away into the Rhineland! We sail past idyllic villages, picturesque Cathedrals, and ancient castles along the famous Rhine River. We’ll see Dusseldorf, an important fashion industry center that began as a small fishing village 700 years ago. Later we stand in the shadow of Cologne’s great Gothic Cathedral. View the Golden Reliquary of the Three Magi, Roman remains with a Dionysian mosaic, praetorium, water conduits, and catacombs and the Old Market. Lovers of medieval art will enjoy the Schnutgen Museum. Day 4 After delicious breakfast we’ll see Koblenz on the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Our local guide will show us the Ehrenbreittein Fortress, and the Deustches Eck Monument, Monastery Church, Elector’s Palace and the Old Town Quarter with its Roman artifacts. Continue up the Rhine River and enjoy the amazing vistas of medieval castles, hillside vineyards, and even the famous Lorelei Rock that sailors feared. We walk the streets of the wine village of Rudesheim in the afternoon. All aboard the toy train into a castle to sample Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum. Dinner is in Rudesheimer Schloss. Day 5 After breakfast our great journey delivers us to the historic Eberbach Monastery where the "Name of the Rose" was filmed. Travel inland through Rheingau to Frankfurt to see the charming town center. Day 6 Visit the quaint medieval village of Miltenberg, including a guided tour. Continue by motor coach to Wertheim. Here we explore the red-stoned castle and breath in the incredible views of the Main and Tauber Rivers. Free time for shopping before returning to the cruise ship. Day 7 Travel on to Wurzburg and its world famous Baroque Palace set amongst Franconian Vineyards. Stroll the Palace, and the historic city center before continuing by bus to Rothenberg. It is pleasant to walk the two miles of encircling walls with over 30 ancient gates and towers. See the 16th century Town Hall, Meistertrunk clock, and Church of St. Jacob (with 15th century altar). Sample local cuisine amongst the half-timbered and Rococco buildings. Travel the famous Romantic Road through pretty villages before we board ship again in Kelheim. Day 8 Discover Bamberg today. An old imperial town built on seven hills it is filled with Baroque buildings. Attractions include Imperial Cathedral and Bamberger Reiter sculpture, reliefs, and the royal tombs. See Little Venice and its picturesque fishing villages, the Old Royal Palace and Michaelsberg Monastery. Day 9 Today we bid farewell to our excellent crew aboard ship and transfer to the airport for the journey home.
