Day 1 Depart from your gateway and begin our incredible journey. Day 2 Overnight flight arrives in Germany at Frankfurt International Airport. We are welcomed by our friendly tour escort and transferred by private motor coach to majestic Rothenburg. Check in to hotel and enjoy a city tour on foot. Rothenburg is Germany's finest Medieval town. A prosperous town in the 16th century, it has retained a remarkable charm and character. A great start to a great adventure. Day 3 On to Nuremberg, where we explore this historical center on foot. Visit the artisan's market, Albrecht Durer House and more. The Meistersingers of the fourteenth century lived here as did the great German Renaissance artist, Albrecht Durer. Day 4 Munich. Munich was originally founded by Benedictine Monks and is now the heart and capital of Bavaria. Here we are surrounded by numerous historic buildings, theaters, museums and galleries. Visit the Deutsche Museum, the largest technical museum in the world, and Nymphenburg Castle. A very special Hofbrauhaus dinner is included tonight. Find out why Munich is the number one tourist destination in Deutchelande. Day 5 Our motor coach carries us down another scenic road towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We ride a cable car to the summit of Zugspite, Germany's highest peak. The views are breathtaking. We shall also visit Oberammergau and learn why this town is packed with tourists from around the world, but only sometimes. Day 6 Travel on to Garmisch and nearby Neuschwanstein Castle, made famous to westerners by Walt Disney. It was constructed by Ludwig II and was meant to be the setting for Wagner's opera "The Ring of the Nibelungen". Sadly, King Ludwig never saw his castle finished. Day 7 Continue on to ninth century Lindau for our overnight. Lindau was originally a fisherman's village constructed on an island. Every year the Duke Bernadotte invites the "Nobel Prize" winners for a conference in Lindau. Maybe we will be invited some day. Day 8 Morning departure is for Freiburg, famous for its beautiful Gothic Cathedral. Surrounding this "Minster" is the Munsterplatz, a square lined with many fine old houses such as the Gothic Kaufhaus. Throughout the old city center you will discover little canals, "The Bachle". Day 9 The Black Forest awaits us. We will stop at a Cuckoo Clock factory in the Black Forest and end up near Heidelberg. The ruins of its rose tinted castle watch over this most romantic and charming city. Visit Germany's oldest university, its castle, and stroll the lively main street past the impressive Renaissance mansions. Step into one of the many student pub/restaurants. Day 10 Transfer to Rudesheim. Walk through this small village with its half-timbered houses and, time permitting, hike up to the Niederwald Memorial for a great view of the Rhine Valley. Our next treat is a Rhine cruise to Boppard. You will thoroughly enjoy the views of the Rhine Valley and it's gorge cliffs and ruined castles. Cruise is 2-3 hours. Return to Rudesheim by coach and visit the Music Museum. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening and spend our last night in Rudesheim. Day 11 Motorcoach will pick up group and transfer the group to Frankfurt airport for the flight home.
