Depart from your gateway and begin our incredible journey. Day 2 Overnight flight arrives in Berlin International Airport, Germany. We are welcomed by our friendly tour escort and transferred by private motor coach to our hotel. Check in to hotel and enjoy a tour of our new surroundings. Our friendly tour guide will explain about currency exchange, safe traveling practices, language and local customs. A great start to a great adventure. Day 3
After breakfast we begin our tour of Berlin. We’ll see and feel the
differences between what used to be East and West Berlin. East Berlin is heavily
populated in districts such as Mitte, Pankow, and Freidrichshain. These areas
carry the flavor of 1920’s and 1930’s Berlin where, in stark contrast, West
Berlin is very western in appearance. We visit the sight of the Berlin Wall, and
the Brandenberg Gate which was hidden behind the wall for many decades,
Checkpoint Charlie Museum, the Reichstag Building and walk Unter den Linden
Boulevard. See the Victory Column (taller than the Eiffel Tower), Opera House,
and Tiergarten. What a day! Day 4-5 Depart Berlin south by train or motor coach. Train journey would depart late on Day 3. Arrive in Munich and transfer to our hotel. 800 year old Munich was originally founded by Benedictine Monks and is now the heart and capital of Bavaria. Here we are surrounded by numerous historic buildings, theaters, museums and galleries. Visit the Deutsche Museum, the largest technical museum in the world, Marienplatz and the Nymphenburg Castle. Drive out to the amazing BMW factory and visit Dachau Concentration camp. Pass the Olympic village (1972 Olympics) before we feast on a very special Hofbrauhaus dinner on Day 5. Day 6 Our motor coach carries us down another scenic road towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We ride a cable car to the summit of Zugspite, Germany's highest peak. The views are breathtaking. We shall also visit Oberammergau and learn why this town is packed with tourists from around the world , but only sometimes. Day 7 Travel on to Garmisch and nearby Neuschwanstein Castle, made famous to westerners by Walt Disney. It was constructed by Ludwig II and was meant to be the setting for Wagner's opera "The Ring of the Nibelungen". Ludwig never saw his castle finished. Day 8 Early morning departure is for Freiburg, famous for its beautiful Gothic Cathedral. Surrounding this "Minster" is the Munsterplatz, a square lined with many fine old houses such as the Gothic Kaufhaus. Throughout the old city center you will discover little canals, "The Bachle". Day 9 The Black Forest awaits us. We will stop at a Cuckoo Clock factory in the Black Forest. The ruins of its rose tinted castle watch over the romantic and charming city known as Heidelberg. Visit Germany's oldest university, its castle, and stroll the lively main street past the impressive Renaissance mansion. Day 10 Transfer to Rudesheim. Walk through this small village with its half-timbered houses and, time permitting, hike up to the Niederwald Memorial for a great view of the Rhine Valley. Our next treat is a Rhine cruise to Boppard. You will thoroughly enjoy the views of the Rhine Valley and it's steep cliffs and ruined castles. Cruise is 2-3 hours. Return to Rudesheim by coach and visit the delightful Music Museum. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening and spend our last night in Rudesheim. Day 11 Motorcoach will pick up group and transfer the group to Frankfurt airport.
