Greece and 3-Day Aegean Cruise to Turkey 


She has earned great respect, borne of centuries of sacrifice--Sense the surge of this great country's past. Through its halls have marched poets, architects, philosophers, conquerors and explorers. They built great city states which grew, through the myriad twists of fate, into a mighty empire.

Day 1  We arrange the flight to Greece. Thus begins a superb adventure in an ancient land.

Day 2  Athens. A warm welcome to Athens transfer to hotel and time to settle into new surroundings.

Day 3  Step back into history with our guided tour of the marvels of ancient Athens. Visit the Acropolis, crowned with the Parthenon, the Royal Palace, Temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, and view the National Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Later stroll Syntagma Square and the National Garden. Enjoy time for bargain shopping and strolling in this fascinating city.

Day 4  Nauplio. Our classic 4-day land tour leads us to the wondrous Corinth Channel and Mycenae, which sits in a boulder-strewn ravine. The Citadel here dates to 1200 BC. Homer wrote that this city was "rich in gold and well built". Walk under the famed Lions Gate and into the Royal Grave Circle. We are next treated to a visit to the theater of Epidaurus, famed for its' acoustics. Travel to Nauplio, a lovely Greek town. Later, throw a coin into a Turkish fountain.

Day 5  Olympia. Depart for Olympia via Tripolis and Megalopolis. Visit the sight where the Olympic games were first played (776 BC). Also visit the sanctuary of Zeus, the stadium and the museum.

Day 6  Delphi. Drive North along the Ionian Coast Road through the port of Patras to Rion. We cross the Corinth Channel to Antirion later arriving at Delphi. Walk the Sacred Way, visit Castalia Spring and see where the Oracles once held court. Cultism thrived here in the ancient world. See the Sanctuary of Athena, Temples of Zeus and Hera, Tomb of Pelops and the historic museum.

Day 7  This afternoon we begin our return drive to Athens, arriving in the late afternoon. We have time for shopping for souvenirs and trinkets before our last overnight in Athens.

Day 8  Aegean Cruise. Transfer to Piraeus, board our cruise ship and depart for Mykonos. Disembark and tour the Island.

Day 9  Aegean Cruise continues as we arrive early morning in Rhodes. Tour the island and return for departure early evening.

Day 10  Cruise ship arrives at the island of Patmos with approximately 3 hours to visit the island. Continue to Kusadasi, Turkey where we have 4 hours to tour. We have time to visit the massive ancient excavations at Ephesus including the great Library of Celsus, ancient harbor street and more. Cruise ship sails departs for Greece. Overnight on board.

Day 11  Early morning disembarkation from the ship and transfer to the airport for our flight home.
