Colonial Mexico is The Friendliest Part of the Country
For decades, Mexico’s Colonial cities remained the secret
pleasure of a few sophisticated travelers who wandered away from the beach
resorts to revel in 16th century communities filled with the romance
and charm of a long and colorful past. Today these cities, the heart of Mexico,
are not a secret anymore. Every year more visitors enjoy the varied treasures of
the Colonial circle. Travel on a comfortable flight to Mexico City where we will
be met by our representative, before traveling by motorcoach to the heart of
Colonial Mexico and the cradle of the Mexican Independence.
The unforgettable kaleidoscope of Ballet Folklorico,
the perfect exposure to Mexican indigenous culture, will awaken our spirits. The
City of Aqueducts, Queretaro, is the ideal hub for exploring
activities. Day trips are arranged to San Miguel de Allende, home
of artists, artisans, and retired Americans. Visit Dolores Hidalgo
where Father Miguel Hidalgo made his call for independence from Spain. This call
was ultimately heard throughout Mexico and Central America. Visit Tequisquiapan,
vacation jewel of Mexicans and San Juan Del Rios, Mexico’s opal
capital. Each evening return to the security and tranquillity of Hotel Real
de Minas (or similar), with a little time to relax by the pool or
have a game of tennis. On the weekend step into the central plaza and dance the
cool evening away to the music of the brass band playing in the band-shell. This
is loveable, laughable Mexico! Pre-Colombian sites are not overlooked on our
tour. One of the highlights of the tour is Teotihuacan, ancient
city of the Gods and site of the pyramids to the Sun and Moon.
Our last full day is spent traveling from Mexico to Cuernavaca,
City of Eternal Spring and Taxco where silver has been mined for
centuries. We can arrange extended stays so you can visit Acapulco or other
fabulous Mexican resorts. This tour will only serve to whet the appetite.
Perhaps one day we will return to Colonial Mexico to further explore the
history, people and culture of this beautiful, enchanting region.
