9 Day Extensive Tour
Exploring Istanbul and the Aegean Coast is
an odyssey of discovery. There are so many wonders to see you will definitely
return, some day. The wonders of Turkey are unique and varied and well worth the

Day 1 Overnight
flight to Istanbul, Turkey
Day 2 Arrival
to Istanbul and transfer to hotel. Enjoy an evening stroll in your new world.
Day 3 Canakkale.
We drive to the Gallipoli Peninsula where we visit the Anzac Cove and the somber
Lone Pine Cemetary. Later we cross the Dardanelles Straits. Continue to
Canakkale.
Day 4 Izmir.
At the city of Troy we learn of the War that started over a woman named Helen,
reported to be the most beautiful woman on Earth. We will see an enormous
reconstruction of the fabled Wooden Horse. Travel South to Pergamum to visit the
very old library said to have contained 200,000 books, all on Papyrus. Alexander
the Great once ruled Pergamum. We also view the Ruins of Asklepeion and the Red
Courtyard. Overnight in Izmir (called Smyrna by the Turks).
Day 5 Our
odyssey continues at Ephesus, the most extensive ancient city ever unearthed.
This archaeological wonder will surrender to our curiosity it's many treasures,
including the Arcadian Way, amazing Amphitheater, which is still used today, and
the Archeological Museum at Selcuk. Virgin Mary spent her last days here. Great
curiosities borne, we must depart.
Day 6 Bursa.
We travel by way of Balikesir to Bursa, a town of many trees and parks. Visit
Yesils Cami (Green Mosque) and Turbe (Green Mausoleum) and have time to shop in
the bazaar.
Day 7 Istanbul.
Visit Iznik, and the historic ruins here, before completing our great circle
back to Istanbul. Our day is not complete until we board ship for a cruise of
the Bosphorus Straits, which includes a special dinner and Turkish Show. What an
evening!
Day 8 Our
tour guide will show us the massive Blue Mosque and, across the street, the
Hagia Sophia (built in 532 AD). See the remains of the Roman Hippodrome, the
dazzling treasures of Topkapi Palace and the Roman Aqueduct. Later, we visit the
frenzied and fantastic Grand Bazaar, with it's 4,000 shops. We won't have time
to visit every shop, but we can try.
Day 9 The
great journey ends with us transfering to the airport, after breakfast, for our
flight home
A terrific option to
this tour is to visit amazing Pamukkale. This is one of the world's truly unique
and fascinating sights. Chalky white cliffs appear, 330 feet high, with volcanic
spring water cascading over terraces of unimaginable beauty. Visit from Izmir
(extra day required).
