Great Cities of the
Northeast
Historic New England to The Big Apple
and Washington DC
T1941
How about a tour that visits historic New England cities, exciting New York
City, Philadelphia & Washington DC? This terrific tour introduces us to
America's Glorious and colorful Heritage.
Day 1 We will
arrange your flight or motor coach transportation to historic Boston.
Massachussetts. Check in to our comfortable hotel for the night.
Day 2 Enjoy
breakfast in Beantown. We take the "Old Town Trolley"
this morning at our leisure. The trolley makes frequent stops at points of
interest where we can stop for a while and then continue. We can hop on and hop
off at Faneuil Hall, the Bull and Finch Pub (famous as Cheer's on Television) or
step into Paul Revere's House. Ride the elevators up 60 stories to the top of
John Hancock Building and later walk through nearby Boston Common. Step back
into history by boarding the USS Constitution (the world's oldest functional
warship) and walking the famous battlefield known as Bunker Hill. The miniature
battlefield diorama here is quite interesting.
Day 3 We have
a full day to explore historic Boston on our own. We can arrange a tour to
Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod and a walk along Freedom Trail is highly
recommended.
Day 4 Our
motor coach departs for Newport, Rhode Island. We visit the exorbitant
Vanderbilt Mansion and continue through picturesque New England countryside to
New York City. We feature a special dinner this evening.
Day 5 An
expert local guide will show us the "Big Apple". We'll see the Empire
State Building, Little Italy, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, Wall Street, and the
World Trade Center memorial sight. Central park and Broadway await us. We drive
to Battery Park where we can depart for the Statue of Liberty, the grand lady of
New York. We can arrange tickets to a professional sporting event such as
hockey, basketball or baseball.
Day 6 Visit
the amazing Metropolitan Museum or other incredible museums and this evening we
can visit a popular Broadway show.
Day 7 After
breakfast we head south to Pennsylvania. We tour the historic landmarks of
Philadelphia, including the Liberty Bell and Independence National Historic
Park. Continue to Washington, DC.
Day 8
Washington is such a great city! See the famous Whitehouse, Capital Hill, the
Mall (no shopping in this mall), Washington Memorial and the F.B.I Building.
Learn of how the original Whitehouse was burned to the ground by an invasion of
Redcoats! We enjoy a special dinner out tonight and then we walk the Vietnam War
Memorial and the Korean War memorial.
Day 9 We
cross the Potomac River to Arlington National Cemetery today. We see the
"Changing of the Guard", the tomb of the unknown soldiers (one of whom
was removed), the JFK Memorial and the Challenger Shuttle Memorial. Continue to
Mount Vernon, which was the home of George. Washington. We step back into
colonial America with tool shops, smokehouses, and gardens that dot this
historic homestead. In the afternoon we visit the amazing Smithsonian. Vast
exhibits include the fabled Hope Diamond, the gowns of First Ladies, and we can
walk through the Apollo Rocket and Air and Space Museum. Touch an actual piece
of moon rock. Return to our hotel.
Day 10
Transfer to the airport for our flight home or travel home by motor coach.
Interesting tour extensions could
include traveling south to Florida (or the Carolinas) or taking the train from
Union Station in Washington to New Orleans, Memphis, Branson or Nashville. Let
us design a tour for you that includes Niagara Falls, a chocolate factory and an
Amish farm. How about traveling north to Atlantic Canada or Historic French
speaking Quebec.
