California is blessed with awesome scenic wonders such as beaches, towering redwood forests, desert vistas, cosmopolitan cities and incredible entertainment. Day 2 Feel the excitement of Bayside San Francisco. We ride a cable car, see Fisherman's Wharf and her seals, Golden Gate Bridge and Park as well as Coit Tower. We have a little time to shop and eat before we depart on our cruise of San Francisco Bay. Later this evening we can stroll Chinatown, Japantown and sample authentic Asian cuisine. Day 3 A second day in this great city will find us touring Alcatraz Prison and the charming city of Sausalito. We continue north to Muir Forest where we see nature’s tallest trees. The majestic Redwood trees have been standing since the beginning of recorded history. We tour a California Winery and return to our hotel in San Francisco. Day 4 Bid farewell to San Francisco as we head inland. We arrive into Yosemite National Park this morning. Our tour of the valley will show us Ice-carved domes, waterfalls and famous El Capiton and Half Dome. We enjoy a special dinner at a local restaurant this evening. Day 5 Our motor coach delivers us south to Monterrey. We drive famous 17 Mile Drive and see the Lone Cypress, Seal Rock and Pebble Beach Golf Course. Dinner this evening is at Cannery Row. Day 6 We venture south to Carmel-by-the-Sea. This coastal retreat is known for its famous inhabitants including Clint Eastwood who was once the mayor! We travel the highway known as the Grapevine through the rocky coastal hamlets of Big Sur and San Simeon. In San Simeon we visit ostentatious Hearst Castle. The treasures within its walls are valued at well over $75 million. Overnight in the "Danish Town" of Solvang. Day 7 We visit Santa Barbara with a tour of the city. Continue on to Los Angeles where we tour Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Sunset Strip and more. Overnight in Newport Beach. Day 8 We have a free day to shop and explore sights that are of personal interest to us. Visit Disneyland, Long Beach Aquarium, Downtown L.A. or shop Newport Beaches Fashion Island Mall. Day 9 A third day in Los Angeles will find us at Long Beach where we tour the grand ship the "Queen Mary" which is now a floating hotel. We can arrange overnights here upon request. Later we depart by ferry for Catalina Island to tour this charming escape from the hustle and bustle of L.A. It is such a quaint island that most inhabitants of Catalina drive golf carts instead of cars! Day 10 We enjoy one last day to enjoy California where we can cross the Mexican border to Tijuana. We can alternately visit San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, San Diego Wild Animal Park. Day 11 Our motor coach takes us to San Diego or Los Angeles for our flight home. For a longer tour can we recommend a cruise south to Mexico or a sailing tour? These cruises are surprisingly affordable! We can also arrange golf packages and a visit to Palm Springs. In Los Angeles we can visit daytime television show tapings or dinner with a Hollywood celebrity! For train lovers we can arrange "Amtrak Starlight Express" passage from San Francisco to Los Angeles. This is a great scenic rail journey. |
