Canyons of America's West Grand Canyon - Zion Canyon - Bryce Canyon - Sedona This is an incredible journey of hiking and awe-inspiring sights. We'll see or hike three of the most beautiful canyons on earth. The Grand-daddy off all canyons is the Grand Canyon, carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. Bryce Canyon is adorned with massive and beautiful pink spires of rock reaching to the sky. Zion Canyon will see us hiking the Virgin River with multi-colored rock walls rising 2,000 feet straight up. It is an amazing sight. Add the Desert Oasis of Sedona and vibrant Las Vegas and we have the perfect vacation. We promise a safe adventure that you will never forget.
Day 2 Depart for St. George in Southern Utah. Nearby is Zion National Park and its impressive canyon-lands. We see the "Ampi-Theater of Hoodoos" and other amazing sandstone monoliths. A fantastic and easy nature hike awaits as you walk up the Virgin River (subject to approval of warden and in small groups). Be absolutely amazed at the terrific variety of hue and color in the rock that rises 2000 feet above us. Overnight nearby.Day 3 Continue on to another miraculous creation of nature. Bryce Canyon is not far from Zion Canyon and yet is a totally different experience. The pink spires are beautiful beyond belief. This afternoon we arrive in Lake Powell, a blue jewel amidst the desert. A highlight of the day is a dinner cruise on the turquoise waters of the lake.Day 4 This promises to be one of the most interesting days of your life!! We cross the Glen Canyon Dam (700 feet high) that created the lake and cross the "Painted Desert" to one of the seven wonders of the world, The Grand Canyon. We spend the afternoon at lookout points admiring natures work. The walls are up to a mile high and we see the Colorado River far below continuing its endless carving.Day 5 This morning enjoy one last view of the Great Grand Canyon or we can arrange a small aircraft or helicopter flight through the Grand Canyon. Wow! Depart the canyon for journey to Montezuma Castle. This is a very well preserved hamlet that is several hundred years old. Natives carved their homes high into the rocks of the canyon walls. We have to see it to believe it. The Red Rock Desert leads us to quaint Sedona. Sedona is an artist’s village where artists come from around the globe to paint the countryside. The massive Mesas and Buttes are wonderful sights. We can even pre-arrange visits with local natives who will talk about the "spirits and lives" of the desert. This is a truly unique experience. Overnight Sedona area.Day 6 Our motor coach will traverse famous "ROUTE 66" and then stop at the Hoover Dam. The dam is a marvel of construction and created Lake Meade. It is interesting to note that the Colorado River that we see hear often never reaches the ocean. It is "drunk dry" by a thirsty American Southwest! Our motor coach delivers us into Las Vegas. Here we enjoy a tour of the strip, to marvel at the most incredible hotels on earth.Day 7 Depart from Las Vegas International Airport or enjoy an additional free day or two in Las Vegas to sample the entertainment and sights. Strolling the strip is quite a tour in itself as many hotels have amazing outdoor shows and exhibits including fireworks and water shows.Day 8 Depart Las Vegas or we can arrange a tour of Death Valley (which is an amazing sight after it rains), "Furnace Creek Ranch" or visit nearby Los Angeles. Laughlin, Nevada is an interesting one-day tour as is the Valley of Fire State Park. Northern Nevada features Reno and beautiful Lake Tahoe. Phoenix is not far off and makes a terrific winter getaway. |
