We arrange airfare or motor coach transportation from your city to Orlando Florida. Florida is famous for its gardens, both public and private. Tour may start in Miami, depending on flight availability. We can arrange Disneyworld entrance and transportation for one or more days for schools that are interested. Day 2 Up early for breakfast and we begin our day. Our deluxe motor coach takes us Northeast to St. Augustine, the oldest city in America. April 3rd 1513 Ponce De Leon landed and later tried to find the "fountain of youth" in this area. We arrange a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city from the bayfront area. The city was sacked by pirates in the 16th and 17th centuries so the Castillo De San Marcos (1672) was built. See the National Monument. We’ll see the Oldest House in the USA and the historic Old City. If the gates of the Huguenot cemetery are unlocked we see centuries of history carved in the headstones. Day 3 After breakfast we are awed by the sights of the Kennedy Space Center. This is a truly inspiring mecca for science enthusiasts from around the world. Our NASA tour introduces us to the pride and joy of accomplishments of the American Space Program including the flight crew training center, Complex 39 and the space shuttle, ICBM Row and the Apollo launch sights. We may also visit the Airforce Space Museum which is set on 4 launch sights used for early exploration. See an authentic German V2 Rocket, Patriot missile and the Gemini II Capsule. Fort Lauderdale welcomes us for the night. Day 4 Visit Miami Beach including its stylish art deco structures. Miami’s Bayside Market is a great place to find a souvenir. Our breakfast cruise will introduce us to the Intra-coastal Waterway. Time permitting we can visit the Historical Museum of Southern Florida where dioramas and multi-media displays bring history to life. South to Key Largo, built on America’s largest coral reef! Our motor coach crosses no fewer than 42 bridges en route to Key West. This evening we walk to Mallory Square to Stroll Duvall Street. Stop in a quaint little café. Day 5 An open-air trolley is the best way to see Key West. We see Ernest Hemingway’s Home, Fort Zachary, Southernmost Point, and the Audubon House and Gardens. We step into the famous Shipwreck Museum. Enjoy some free time for beach-combing this afternoon. This evening we set sail on an authentic Tall Ship. What a day! Day 6 Our treat for the day is the Everglades National Park. The area known as the Florida Everglades is a very slow moving fresh water river that is 50 miles wide and a only few inches deep. The mangrove waterways, salt prairies and sawgrass marsh are a fascinating ecosystem. There are very definite steps being taken to preserve this area. Most land areas are less than 8 feet above sea level. Scientists fear that future global warming will further melt our icecaps, raise ocean water levels and flood such low lying areas. We board our airboats for a thrilling, yet safe, ride through the swamplands. See sleepy alligators along the shores or submerged in the murky waters. Continue to Fort Myers known for its profusion of exotic flowers & palm trees. Day 7 This morning we are privileged to visit the winter home of Thomas Edison to learn of his amazing accomplishments. The coastal highway delivers us to Sarasota where we visit the estate of John Ringling (the Ringling Brothers). The circus museum showcases the legendary "Greatest Show On Earth". The Baroque painting collection is quite extensive. Drive through Tampa Bay over the Skyway Bridge to St. Petersburg. We can arrange a dinner cruise for groups who are not on a tight budget. Day 8 (9) Groups can depart for home on day 8 or enjoy a full day at Busch Gardens. Other options include traveling north to Kissimmee and spending one or more days in Disney World. How about a farewell Arabian Knights or Medieval Times dinner with knights jousting in Kissimmee? Depart for the journey home. |
