Day 1 We arrange flight from your gateway to London, England. Day 2 We arrive in London and transfer to our hotel on our own. We have time this evening to step out for our first walk in London. Day 3 Enjoy a full day to explore London on our own. We can suggest walking tours or you may choose to arrange guided tours to include St. Paul's Cathedral, Harrods, Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. (B) Day 4 We meet our tour director and other traveling companions and depart at 8:00AM for a memorable day's sightseeing. See the ornamental gardens of Hampton Court, Henry the VIII magnificent Tudor Palace, Salisbury the city of Spires and amazing Stonehenge. New evidence points to Stonehenge being more than 5,000 years old! We stop in the elegant Georgian city of Bath and learn why almost the entire city is the same color. Cross the Severn Bridge into Wales and Cardiff. An orientation drive of the Welsh Capital introduces us to the many attractions. Learn that the ancestors of the Celts of Britain originated very from from Britain!! See Cardiff Castle, Cathay's Park, Millenium Stadium and the stately civic buildings. What an incredible day. (B) Day 5 Head for the beautiful Wye Valley and the romantic ruins of the 12th century Tintern Abbery. Traverse the scenic Cotswold Hills with a stop in picture-book Broadway. Later tour fascinating Stratford-Upon-Avon, a living monument to William Shakespeare, and stop for pictures of Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Back into Wales we travel to picturesque Llangollen, home of an annual international competition for poets and minstrels, then overnight in Wrexham. (BD) Day 6 In Chester our walking tour includes Roman remains, black an white half-timbered houses and two-tiered arcades called the :Rows" Then some of the best-loved scenery in England, the mountains lakes and valleys of the Lake District are preserved as a national park. Follow the shores of Lake Windermere and visit Grasmere, home of the poet Wordsworth. On to Carlisle, a strategic point in medieval warfare between the English and the Scots. (BD) Day 7 Over the border into Bonnie Scotland and a visit to Gretna Green, where the blacksmith used to wed runaway couples on the way through the history steeped Loland Hills, before reaching Edinburgh. Our afternoon sightseeing with a local expert starts with an orientation drive along Princes Street and the Royal Mile, with tales of some truly intriguing characters such as the Bodysnatchers, Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde and Greyfriars Bobby. History comes alive as we tour mighty Edinburgh Castle. Can you believe there is a cemetery for dogs within its historic walls. We can arrange an optional Scottish evening with Highland dancers, bagpipers and the ceremony of the Haggis. (B) Day 8 At Jedburgh, glimpse the house of Mary, Queen of Scots and see the abbey ruins before heading towards the Cheviot Hills and the English border. Pass the sight of Hadrian's Wall and learn who built the wall to protect themselves!! Continue through Northumberland to York, England's most complete medieval city. Stand in front of the great structure of York Minster, then follow your tour director through a maze of quaint streets, including the narrow Shambles. O/N Sheffield. (BD) Day 9 Head through the Midlands and continue south, passing the richest farmland in Britain. Stop, with your camera ready, at Stamford in Lincolnshire. visit the university city of Cambridge, and enjoy a walking tour in one of the country's oldest seats of learning. Return to London around 4:00PM.(B) Day 10 Depart Gatwick or Heathrow airport for the flight home or we can arrange additional days (B) Includes hotel, transportation, 8 breakfasts, 4
