Extensive Tour of Egypt
Sail the Nile River and Camp in the Desert for One Night
Cairo – Giza – Sakkara – Hurghada – Aswan – Abu Simbel – Feluccas on the Nile - Karnak

Day 1 Depart to Egypt on overnight flight.

Day 2 Afternoon or evening arrival to Cairo. It is interesting to note that Cairo is one of the youngest cities in Egypt. It is only 1,000 years old compared to ruins of cities along the Nile River thousands of years older. Our bilingual guide will meet us at the airport and transfer us to our hotel.

Day 3 Visit the Egyptian Museum (featuring the King Tutankhamen collection), the 12th century Citadel Khan, and El Khallili marketplace for shopping. The marketplace is filled with exotic goods and the air is filled with the fragrance of spices, powders and herbs. There is a separate perfume street where you inhale the scents of musk, jasmine, passion flower and more.

Day 4 Full day tour of the Egyptian Pyramids, the great Sphinx, and the capital of the Old Kingdom - Memphis. At Sakkara witness the step pyramid which is the oldest in the world (2682BC). It is the father of pyramids.

Day 5 After breakfast depart to Mount Sinai. Here we visit St. Catherine's Monastery where Moses received the 10 commandments and where he saw the burning bush. Then enjoy a jeep safari to the Mecca Huts. Camp in the desert overnight for an experience that we will cherish forever.

Day 6 Early rise and shine as today we hike up Moses Mountain. Watch the sun rise over the desert. Late departure for Hurghada on the Red Sea. Hotel is Downtown.

Day 7 Set sail on an extensive boat excursion from Hurghada onto the Red Sea. Students who are interested can snorkel or scuba dive (scuba activities are not included in price and PADI certification is required).

Day 8 Travel to Aswan and then enjoy a full day camel trek to a Monastery in the desert.

Day 9 Abu Simbel is our destination for today. We fly from Aswan or travel by motor coach to the amazing Temple of Abu Simbel. We will learn of the fascinating history of this monument including its relocation. Return to Aswan with time to visit the Spice Bazaar of Aswan in the afternoon.

Day 10-11 We spend 2 full days in delightful white sailed feluccas on the great Nile River. Board feluccas and visit Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples.

Day 12 Depart for Luxor and ancient Thebes. Karnak is actually a city of temples and is surrounded by high walls. The most important temple here is Amon-Ra worshipped by Egyptians for many centuries. This is a busy and full day and everyone will sleep well tonight.

Day 13 A donkey trek will deliver us to the Valley of the Kings and Hatchepsout Temple and then continue on to the Valley of the Workers. A special treat this evening is the sound and light show here. Transfer late day to the train station and depart by first class train for the overnight trip to Cairo.

Day 14 Early morning will find our train arriving in Cairo. After checking into our hotel we enjoy a half-day tour to the Coptic Churches of old Cairo. Our last afternoon is free for shopping and exploring on our own.

Day 15 Transfer to Cairo airport and depart for home.
