Day 1 We arrange the flight from your gateway to Germany.

Day 2 We arrive in Munich, southern Germany and transfer on our own to our hotel.

Day 3 We depart by deluxe motorcoach to the southeast.  Cross into Austria at Passau, at the junction of 3 rivers (the tiny Liz, the Inn River and the mighty Danube).  We can arrange an optional cruise from Melk to Krems seeing the best of the river.  Continue by motorcoach along the Danube to Vienna, capital of Austria where we stop for the night.  (B)

Day 4 Our colorful and experienced guide will bring to life the history and culture of this great city.  See the state Opera, Parliament, and the Town Hall.  Stop for a stroll in Heroe's Square to view the incomparable Hofburg and step inside St. Stephen's Cathedral.  This afternoon we can arrange an optional tour to Schonbrunn Palace and the Prater with its Ferris Wheel. (B)

Day 5 One of the highlights of the tour today.  We visit the Vienna Woods and then Mayerling, the sight of the hunting lodges where a world-shocking drama took place.  Learn the details of the tragic love story between Archduke Rudolf and the young and lovely Maria Vetsera.  We cross the Hungarian border and arrive in Budapest for the night.  (B)

Day 6 Buda Castle dominates the twin cities of  Buda and Pest, separated by the broad ribbon of the Danube.  Heroe's Square typifies teh modern capital, while along the riverbank, we find the old inns and wine cellars.  We'll see the parliament building, Margaret Island, Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Castle and Mathias Coronation Church.  (B)

Day 7 We parallel the shores of Lake Balaton, the largest and shallowest lake in Europe until we stop in pretty Tihany.  The village is located on a peninsula that juts into the lake as if it is going to touch the opposite shore.  The whole peninsula is a nature preserve famed for its beauty and great number of birds.  Continue west into Austria and its lovely scenery to Graz, the garden city and capital of Styria.  (B)

Day 8  We have time to explore Graz, maybe see its Hauptplatz which is in the very heart of the city.   This is quite possibly Austria's most extensive historic city center.  Arrive in Salzburg where a local guide will join us.  We see the Domplatz, Horse Trough, Festival hall, and the charming Getreidegasse, where Mozart was born.  We have some free time to relax this afternoon.  (B)

Day 9  Truly great alpine scenery greets us today.  We travel to Zell Am See, hard to say but easy to appreciate.  This is a beautiful resort located on the western shore of the lake of the same name surrounded by mountains such as the Hohe Tauern, Steinernes Meer and teh Grasberge Mountains.  Roll into Munich this afternoon where a colorful and expert guide will show us some of the highlights of this great city.  (B)
