The Costa Del Sol and the Imperial Cities
Seville – Torremolinos – Algeciras – Tangier – Fez
– Meknes - Marrakech - Casablanca – Rabat

Spain and Morocco make an incredible study of contrasts and culture. Warm, sunny, safe destinations are also famous for friendly and warm citizens. Both countries are resplendent with Roman and Moorish heritage which is very much a part of the region.. Break some new ground and visit two very interesting lands.

Day 1 We arrange the overnight flight to Seville, Spain.

Day 2 Transfer to our hotel with a walking tour that introduces to customs, currency language, safety and the culture of Spain.

Day 3 Seville. Lying on the banks of the Guadalqivir River, Seville is considered to be one of Europe's most romantic and beautiful cities. Five centuries of Moorish rule imparted a character and charm not seen in other cities. Its history is steeped in Roman, Visigoth, Moorish, French and Spanish cultures. See La Giralda, and then visit the largest gothic Cathedral (and 3rd largest religious structure) in the world. Seville's magnificent Cathedral was a hundred years in construction and we can walk through its Gates of Forgiveness. You will never forget it. See the Roman Walls, Tobacco Factory, 13th century Alcazar including the Ambassador’s Hall, Patio de las Doncellas, Sala del Yeso and the ornate gardens. Walk the narrow twisting streets of the Santa Cruz district which was formerly a Jewish Ghetto.

Day 4 From Seville we head to Torremolinos. En route we stop in Celtic Rhonda for a tour and lunch. See Tajo and its vistas and continue to Torremolinos on the Costa Del Sol (Sunshine Coast). We have a little free time for shopping/exploring.

Day 5 After breakfast we depart from our hotel passing picturesque villages as we head southwest. See renowned places such a Marbella, and Puerto Banus finally arriving in Algeciras. We cross the straits of Gibraltar and disembark in Tangiers, Morocco. A short walking tour will let stretch our legs in our new surroundings, North Africa.

Day 6 Cosmopolitan Tangiers is a feast for the senses. Spanish, Arabic and French are spoken here and the Great Socco (marketplace) will astound us all. Not to miss are the Sultan’s Palace, Mendoubia.and nearby the Sea Grottoes at the Caves of Hercules.

Day 7 Continue by motor coach to Fez, one of the original Imperial Cities. Our colorful local guide will show us Fes-El-Bali (the old city) including the Mosque & University of Karaouyne and ancient theological schools. Visit a Souk and depart after lunch for Meknes. Visit the Great mosque where the tomb of the Great Monarch is located. See the Hedine Square, the Mansour Gate and the Stables of Muley Ismail. Overnight is in Fez or Meknes.

Day 8 We arrive in Marrakech in the morning to see Djemaa El Fna (Main Square) which is packed with fortune tellers, snake charmers, Chleuh dancing artists, musicians, professional scribes and nimble acrobats. Along the beautiful red walls of the Old City we seek out the Koutoubia Minaret, Gardens of Aguedal, extensive palm groves and the Menara.

Day 9 We arrive in the third most populous city in North Africa, Casablanca. Named Casa Branca by the Portuguese, the city was rebuilt by Sultan Mulai Mohamed and then renamed Casablanca by its French inhabitors in 1907. The King’s Palace is interesting as are the museum of Moroccan Arts and the Aquarium.
