boasts a wide variety of beautiful countryside as well as glorious beaches.
Experience the Adventure of Spain.
Day 1
We arrange the overnight flight to Madrid Spain.
Day 2
Madrid. Arrive in Madrid and transfer to our centrally located hotel.
Day 3
Enjoy a walking tour of what this city has to offer. In the morning we will
visit the Royal Palace. We won't have time to visit all 2,800 rooms but we will
step into the most important of them. The afternoon is the best time to visit
the astounding Prado Museum. Within its walls are many of the world's great
masterpieces. Works of Picasso, El Greco, Velazquez, Murillo and of course the
extensive collection of the Master, Goya adorn its walls. Time permitting we
visit Parque del Retiro with it's rose garden and many fountains and statues. A
horse-drawn carriage ride anyone? A fabulous evening spectacle has been
arranged. "Madrid de Noche" includes a night tour of illuminated
Madrid, dinner in a restaurant and a fiery Flamenco Show.
Day 4
Depart Madrid this morning for Escorial and it's Pantheon and Monastery. Here
are buried the cream of Spanish Aristocracy. 8 kilometers along the road to
Segovia the "Valley of the Fallen" looms up on your left. A vast
Basilica was hewn out of sheer granite. It took 19 years to construct and today
it's the final resting place of 43,000 war dead including General Franco. Our
great journey continues, bringing us to the golden-stoned market town of
Segovia. In front of us stands the huge granite Aqueduct built by the mighty
Roman Empire over 2,000 years ago. Climb the 156 steps of the Alcazar for
breathtaking views. Return exhausted to Madrid.
Day 5
Seville. This morning we depart by train or motor coach to Seville. Lying on the
banks of the Guadalqivir River, Seville is considered to be one of Europe's most
romantic and beautiful cities.
Day 6
Motor coach picks us up at our hotel and delivers us into the charms of Seville.
See La Giralda, and then visit the largest gothic Cathedral anywhere. Seville's
magnificent Cathedral was a hundred years in construction. You will never forget
it. Later we visit nearby Italica, birthplace of two Roman Emperors (Trajan and
Hadrian). Here we find an ampitheater, Roman Baths, and splendid mosaics in the
Museum. If only we had more time in Seville.
Day 7
Cordoba-Granada. Depart for Cordoba where we see the Aljama Mosque, built in 987
AD. Shop nearby, and then visit the Jewish Quarter. Our journey continues as we
depart for Granada. Granada, built in the shadows of the Sierra Nevada
Mountains, was the last stronghold of the Moors. Here they created an imposing
monument to the creativity of man. The Pink-Gold Palace of Alhambra is stunning.
Together with the Generalife Gardens (summer palace of rich and powerful
Caliphs) these great architectural creations stand as one of the premier jewels
of mankind. The walls of Alhambra have seen the sly treachery of murderous
plotters and heard the laughter of the Caliphs Harems. Listen to the stories our
guide tells. Overnight in Granada.
Day 8
Marbella. Depart for the seaside resort of Marbella. Here we stroll the streets
and enjoy a swim in our pool or visit the beach nearby. Enjoy the Costa del Sol.
Day 9
Take the train for an optional tour to the port of Algeciras and then board the
ferry to Tangier, Morocco. Alternatively, visit the caves of the Rock of
Gibraltar, or simply spend the day at the beach nearby, splashing in the
Mediterranean.
Day 10
Transfer to airport in Malaga and bid farewell to our new-found friends in
Spain.
