Ten Days in Iberia
Extensive Tour to Portugal and Spain
Madrid – Cordoba – Granada – Costa Del Sol - Seville – Italica - Lisbon
Portugal and Spain both have intriguing pasts. Visit the tiny villages, castles and Cathedrals, sandy beaches and smiling peoples that make the Iberian Peninsula one of the top destinations in the world. Portuguese and Spanish sailors discovered the new world; now let's discover theirs.

Day 1 We arrange the overnight flight to Madrid, Spain.

Day 2 Arrive in Madrid and transfer to our hotel. Step out this evening for a stroll in sunny Spain and our guide will tell us about local customs, exchanging currency, language and safe touring practices.

Day 3 Madrid. Enjoy a walking tour of what this city has to offer. In the morning we will visit the Royal Palace. We won't have time to visit all 2,800 rooms but we will step into the most important of them. The afternoon is the best time to visit the astounding Prado Museum. Within its walls are many of the world's great masterpieces. Works of Picasso, El Greco, Velazquez, Murillo and of course the extensive collection of the Master, Goya adorn its walls. Time permitting we visit Parque del Retiro with it's rose garden and many fountains and statues. A carriage ride anyone? An optional evening can be arranged. "Madrid de Noche" includes a night tour of illuminated Madrid, dinner in a restaurant and a fiery Flamenco Show.

Day 4 Cordoba. Depart for Toledo where we visit the steel workshop, Church of Santo Tome and the Gothic Cathedral. Cordoba, our next stop is where we see the Aljama Mosque, built in 987 AD by the Moors. Shop nearby, and then visit the Jewish Quarter, to learn of its past and present.

Day 5 Granada. Our journey continues as we depart for Granada. Granada, built in the shadows of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, was the last stronghold of the Moors. Here they created an imposing monument. The Pink-Gold Palace of Alhambra is beautiful beyond belief. Together with the Generalife Gardens (summer palace of rich and powerful Caliphs) they stand as a jewel of humanity. The walls of Alhambra have seen the sly treachery of murderous plotters and heard the laughter of the Caliphs Harems. Listen to the stories our guide tells. Overnight Granada.

Day 6 Costa Del Sol. Depart for the sunny resort area Europeans love. We have the day to splash in the Mediterranean, visit the hillside village of Mijas or optionally visit the caves of Gibraltar.

Day 7 Seville. Drive through the lovely wine producing area that produces Sherry. Further up the province of Andalucia, lying on the banks of the Guadalqivir River, is Seville, considered one of Europe's most romantic and beautiful cities. Seville will mesmerize us with her many attributes. See La Giralda, and then visit the world's largest Gothic Cathedral . Seville's magnificent Cathedral was a hundred years in construction.

Day 8 Lisbon. We visit nearby Italica, birthplace of two Roman Emperors (Trajan and Hadrian). We find an ampitheater, Roman Baths, and splendid mosaics in the Museum. Continue on through woodlands of cork and Eucalyptus trees to Lisbon, the city built on seven hills, and straddling the Tagus River.

Day 9 Visit the Belem Tower, St. Georges' Castle, the impressive Black Horse Square and later the Alfama's tile decorated streets (for a slight fee we can optionally stay in a Castle near Setubal).

Day 10 Transfer to airport and bid farewell to the beautiful country of Portugal.
