Romans to the Moors
Affordable Spain - 7 Day Tour
Sunny Spain including Madrid – Granada – Seville - Cordoba

Central and Southern Spain have much to offer the traveler including tons of sunshine. Experience the imposing Alhambra Palace in Granada, the beauty and charm of Seville, the cultural capital of Madrid …... Step into a great learning adventure in Spain!

Day 1  We arrange overnight flight to Madrid, Spain.

Day 2  Madrid. Arrive in Madrid and transfer to our centrally located hotel. Sample our first taste of Spain on a walking tour of the hotel vicinity. Our friendly guide will tell us about currency, customs, language and more.

Day 3 We enjoy a tour of the Capital City of Spain. See the Cervantes Memorial and Puerta del Sol. This is a city of magnificent museums of which the Prado is the center-piece. Masterpieces here include creations by Goya, El Greco, Velazquez, Murillo, Riber, Rubens and Titian. See priceless collections of goldsmiths art, enamels and coins. The Royal Palace is lavishly decorated and features 800 tapestries. The nearby botanical gardens feature 30,000 plants from all over the world. Wow! For schools who wish to spend an extra day we recommend a day trip to Toledo & Escorial (burial sight ((Pantheon)) for most Spanish Kings).

Day 4  Granada. After our breakfast we head off for the ancient capital of Castile, Toledo. Visit the Gothic Cathedral, Church of Santo Tome and the Toledo Steel Workshop. Travel via the plains of La Mancha towards the Sierra Nevada Mountains into Moorish Granada. Granada was the last stronghold of the Moors. Here, they created an imposing monument to Moorish Culture. The Pink-Gold Palace of Alhambra is beautiful beyond belief. Together with the Generalife Gardens (summer palace of rich and powerful Caliphs) they stand as a jewel of mankind. The walls of Alhambra have seen the sly treachery of murderous plotters and heard the laughter and song of many of the Caliphs Harems. Listen to stories and enjoy a special evening of dinner and music.

Day 5  Seville. This morning we depart by our motor to Seville. Lying on the banks of the Guadalqivir River, Seville is considered one of Europe's most romantic and beautiful cities. Afternoon walking tour will familiarize us with our new home and afford us time for shopping. This evening will be spent in the city famous for oranges, Seville.

Day 6  Motor coach picks us up at our hotel and delivers us into the charms of Seville. See La Giralda, and visit the largest Gothic Cathedral anywhere. Seville's magnificent Cathedral was a hundred years in construction. You will never forget it. Later we visit nearby Italica, birthplace of two Roman Emperors (Trajan and Hadrian). Here we find an ampitheater, the baths, ruins of houses and splendid mosaics in the Museum. Continue to Cordoba.

Day 7  We tour Cordoba in the morning departure. Our morning tours will find us inside the Aljama Mosque, built in 987 AD by the Moors. Visit the Jewish Quarter and then depart to the airport for the flight home. Return flight might be from Seville International Airport.
